EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer) is a versatile polymer material composed of ethylene and vinyl acetate monomers.

I. Chemical Structure

EVA is formed through copolymerization of ethylene (E) and vinyl acetate (VA) monomers. The VA content typically ranges from 5% to 40%, and different VA levels endow EVA with distinct properties.

II. Performance Characteristics

  1. Softness and Elasticity
    EVA exhibits excellent softness and elasticity, offering a comfortable tactile experience similar to rubber but with superior softness and rebound resilience. It can withstand deformation without cracking and quickly recover its original shape.
  2. Chemical Resistance
    It shows good tolerance to various chemical substances (e.g., acids, alkalis, salts), resisting corrosion and maintaining stable performance in different chemical environments.
  3. Water Resistance
    EVA has moderate waterproof properties, making it suitable for use in humid environments or direct contact with water without easy penetration or damage.
  4. Electrical Insulation
    With excellent electrical insulation, EVA is widely used in electrical insulation applications to effectively prevent current leakage and short circuits.
  5. Processability
    EVA is highly processable and can be molded into various shapes via injection, extrusion, blow molding, etc. Its good flowability during processing enables efficient production of products in diverse specifications and forms.

III. Application Fields

  1. Footwear
    One of the primary applications of EVA, commonly used for soles and insoles. Its softness and elasticity provide excellent cushioning, reducing foot pressure and enhancing wearing comfort, while also offering certain anti-slip properties.
  2. Packaging Materials
    Due to its shock-absorbing, cushioning, and chemical-resistant properties, EVA is ideal for packaging fragile items such as precision instruments, electronics, and glass products, effectively protecting them during transportation and storage.
  3. Building Materials
    Used in manufacturing waterproof membranes, sealing strips, and other construction materials. Its water resistance and weather resistance ensure long-term outdoor use, preventing building leakage and aging.
